      No problem unfortunately I was not on site with most of the handwork was done. There is drainage at the bottom, so there is a footer drain at the lowest point which takes water out to the storm main at the street and there is also a gutter drain which in some parts of this house the gutter drains are only approximately 2 feet deep.

      Depending on a lot of factors usually a contractor will charge $150 per liner foot across your wall with minimums. This job would have been $13-17k ball park and typically a contractor would not have given nearly as much care to the quality as this home owner did. If you have one wall that is bad unfortunately typically the other portions of your house may not be far away from needing drain repair. As a home owner if you are fairly handy you can save your self a decent bit by tackling this project your self. Finding the best price on stone, hauling dirt out, some where to dispose of the dirt and equipment/ operator and if you need a labroer will be your biggest expense. Try to network with your neighbors. Lots of good people out there still.

    Question? I have a 2014 traverse. It has been leaking steering fluid at a rate of half a quart about every two months. I degreased the undercarriage to try and identify exactly where the leak is coming from but still can't quite see it. It's definitely coming from the pump and not the rack but my question is, should I just go ahead and replace the pump or should I do anything more to try and diagnose the issue? I do all of my own repairs because where I live there are no mechanics that are trying to do a good job well done without robbing you blind first. I guess a more indepth explanation of my question would be if I replace the pump is there anything else I need to watch out for that it may be leaking from that may not directly be the pump itself?

    Ok here is the absolute easiest way. Remove belt. Unbolt passenger sway bar link from strut. Unbolt tie rod from knuckle. Remove right side subframe bolts, don't touch left side to keep subframe position. Lower subframe as far as it will go. Remove flare nut, remove 10mm holding return elbow. Pump falls right out through wheel well. Takes 30 minutes.

    Since you all are in the know and before I commit my day to doing this, can you tell me the symptoms that lead you down this path? My steering wheel is shuddering, bouncing, jerking (whatever adjective works) when I turned the wheel while sitting idle. I'm not hearing anything from under the hood but it's always moaned.

    • @jamesiv432
      @jamesiv432 Год назад

      So typically these Chevy traverses are very well known for power, steering pump failures. In this particular case, it was diagnosed by the dealership and they were given a astronomical price, so I did it for a friend. to my knowledge, it was only making a high-pitched, whining noise. Before you replace the pump, I would suggest doing your absolute best to bleed the air out of the system. I would try to first jack the front end up and crank the wheel back and forth lock out to lock out with the engine off. Back and forth up to 40 times. Possible air in the system could cause your problem. You would just be investing a little time before buying parts and your labor for this project.

      @@vongabriel7597 unfortunately yes. The power steering pump (which the mechanic told me me is way to small for the vehicle) went bad. That then pushed shards f metal int the rack and ruined it too. After all was said and done it cost me 2400 bucks. Doing a diy wasn't an option because of where the pump is and the work required to replace the rack.

The jack stand failed, and the truck fell and would've killed him. Moral of the story: don't trust your equipment too much. Make sure jacks and stands are rated for the load you're trying lift. Most important: don't trust Chinese manufacturing. Stay safe.

    Just did this on my back. 2013 Traverse AWD. Took about 3 hours. The pump slides out easy through where you showed. Remove the elbow from the pump first (held on by 10mm bolt) and it'll slide out and in 2 minutes tops. No need to drop frame or driveshaft. The hardest part honestly is getting the line nut out and putting the hose clamp back on (I highly recommend replacing it with a screw-type clamp).
